Linking Communities informed by consultation with young people aims to create short term volunteer placements for individuals and groups. The overall goal is to achieve community cohesion, learning and sharing through volunteering. The other elements of the project include recruiting volunteer mentors for the Youth Offending Service, building capacity in voluntary organisations to manage young volunteers and raising consciousness and cultural awareness with volunteers and the beneficiaries of their volunteering in the community. This aspect of the project will be done in partnership with MREP to develop practical tools for working with diverse communities.
