Volunteer Centre Merton/Merton Libraries - New Project

Volunteer Centre Merton Home Visits Library Service

Book selectors, admin and delivery drivers needed.

Merton Home Tutoring Service

You will be teaching adults English on a one to one basis in their own homes.

Merton Unity Network

Database Assistant (needs to have advanced knowledge of Access)

Merton Mencap

Special Activities Support needed to help run regular activity sessions, eg. drama, music, dance and exercise. Also to help prepare light meals.

Age Concern Merton

Gardeners needed to help older people in the borough maintain their gardens.

High Path Outreach Team

Outreach Volunteers needed to assist a member of staff supporting adults with learning disabilities on various trips out in the community eg. theatre, bowling, cinema, football, gym, walks etc. Evenings and weekends.

Pre-School Learning Alliance

Creche volunteers needed at Vestry Hall on Friday mornings to help with children aged 6 months to 5 years. Help with playing, singing, stories etc.

Sutton Community Farm

Volunteers needed to sow seeds, pick salads, hand out leaflets, construct wood sheds, plough the land, help cook lunch, sell produce from our vegetable van etc.

Commonside Community Development Trust

Receptionist needed Wednesdays and Fridays.

Recycling Volunteer to improve the rates of recycling and reuse in an around the New Horizon Centre and to reduce the volume of rubbish going into landfill by: organising effective systems, especially paper, glass and compostable materials.

2012 Opportunities Coordinator to help Commonside to ensure that people in Mitcham Eastfields, Longthornton and Pollards Hill areas enjoy and benefit from opportunities associated with the 2012 London Olympics.

Commonside Festival Coordinator 2011 to help Commonside deliver our Family Fun Day in August 2011.

St Mark’s Family Centre

Admin volunteer needed.

Victim Support

Bereavement Support Volunteer to support people who have been bereaved by homicide and death by dangerous and careless driving. The support could be by telephone or faceto- face visits. Experience of dealing with bereaved people and/or enhanced counselling/listening skills.

Musical Moving

Dance for people with Parkinsons Musical Moving offers weekly dance classes for people with Parkinson’s. Meet every Wednesday to dance with professional teach and musician. Need outgoing, confident volunteer to meet, greet, support people at the group. Occasional admin support.

Fanon

Volunteer for Information, Advice and Guidance within mental health. One-to-one delivery of information, advice and guidance to service users, signposting or matching needs to ensure they relate to client’s interests; supporting the service user to engage in activities that would result in recovery and raised self-esteem.

Faith in Action Homeless Drop-in

Hairdresser needed for homeless drop-in, Wednesday and/or Fridays.

Urgently needed; reliable and regular volunteers for Wednesday and Friday drop-in. Volunteers welcome and check in clients at the drop-in; help choose clothes; assist in filling in forms for doctor etc; chat and befriend. Also volunteers who will accompany clients to appointments regarding housing, benefits etc.

Jan Malinowski Centre

Travel support volunteer needed on Thursdays. Support a young lady with learning difficulties to travel from her home in Morden to a drama club in Wimbledon and back again.  

Wimbledon Cancer Friendship Group

Volunteer needed to assist at weekly meetings as a group facilitator, or simply to welcome people and serve refreshments. Listening skills and facilitation training available. Volunteers with marketing and/or book-keeping skills also needed. Thurs 3.15-4.30 weekly and 7,30-9.00pm once a month.

St Raphael’s Hospice

Pets as Therapy volunteer needed to bring in trained dog suited to hospice visiting on Wed mornings 10.30-12.00 noon. Volunteer will meet and talk with patients in the day care unit and on the ward.

Volunteer drivers urgently needed to bring patients into the Hospice Day Centre in the morning and return them home in the afternoon. Petrol expenses paid. Active support and Care Require a part-time administrator to assist in the running of their small office Wed - Fri 9.30 - 5.00pm.

All Saints Day Centre

Looking for volunteers to run a group for people with disabilities. Any interests or skills welcome, eg. Computer, Craft, Gardening. Mon-Fri Imagine Befrienders for people with mental health problems. Calm, friendly, sensitive, good listener.

Pollards Hill Little League

Volunteers to run on-site tuckshop, club secretary, fundraisers, lines judges, football coaches and match referees. Training provided if required. Saturday mornings.

Merton Scootability Project

Escorts needed to assist elderly and disabled members who need help while shopping or out on trips. Travel expenses and lunches will be paid by the organisation. Knowledge of local area and good communication skills required. First Aid and travel support skills a bonus.

Croydon Community Bus

Gain experience of working children and young people aged 8-16 on a double decker bus. School holidays Tues/Wed/Fri evenings. Empathy with young people. North

Wimbledon Girl Guides/Brownies

Were you a Brownie or Girl Guide? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers one evening a week to help out with Brownie and Guides packs in Wimbledon. Help with a wide range of activities, including swimming, horse riding, canoeing, bowling, arts and crafts. Opportunities to participate in camping trips.

The Wandle Trust

River clean-up volunteers for the second Sunday of every month. No special skills required, except a liking for getting muddy!
