Home-Start Merton
Are you a parent or grandparent? Can you spare 2-4 hours per week? Could you help a family through a difficult time? We need volunteers for home-visiting, group work and crèche support. Our next free volunteer preparation training programme will commence on Tuesday 23rd February 2010.
Wimbledon Cancer Friendship Group
Volunteer needed to assist at weekly meetings as a group facilitator, or simply to welcome people and serve refreshments. Listening skills and facilitation training available. Volunteers with Marketing and /or bookkeeping skills also needed. Thurs 3.15-4.30 weekly, 7.30-9.00pm monthly.
Sustainable Merton
Allotment helpers needed for sowing, planting, digging, weeding, watering, harvesting, path building, carpentry and general maintenance tasks. Wed, Sat, Sun pm
Cricket Green School
Volunteers needed to support young people with learning difficulties, i.e listening to reading, accompanying students on swimming and PE trips. Mon–Fri.

St Raphael’s Hospice
Pets as Therapy volunteer needed to bring in trained dog suited to hospice visiting on Wed mornings10.30 12noon. Volunteer will meet and talk with patients in the day care unit and on the ward.

Merton Home Tutoring Service
Tutors wanted to teach adults with literacy problems, or needing to learn English as a second language who cannot get to classes. You must speak English fluently and be able to plan lessons. 16 hours of training available. Next training starts on 27th February.
Greenhouse Schools
Looking for volunteers to join our classes in dance, drama, football, boxing, basketball, music, DJ,. Every evening at Bishopsford School.. Ability to communicate with young people.

Offers welfare-to-work training and sustainable employment for unemployed people in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance. Looking for volunteers to take an active role in motivating clients to continue job search, give guidance in dealing with barriers to employment and inspire them to find work. Maturity, confidence, commonsense and warmth required. Min 2 hours commitment.

Travel support volunteer needed on Thursdays. Support a young lady with learning difficulties to travel from her home in Morden to a drama club in Wimbledon and back again.
Merton Scootability Project
Escorts needed to assist elderly and disabled members who need help while shopping or out on trips. Travel expenses and lunches will be paid by the organisation. Knowledge of local area and good communication skills required. First Aid and travel support skills a bonus.
Cancer Research UK
Volunteers needed to collect donations at Morrisons in Wimbledon on 27th and 28th June. Full brief sent prior to collection. You will receive a Cancer Research UK t-shirt and collecting materials.
Croydon Community Bus
Gain experience of working children and young people aged 8-16 on a double decker bus. School holidays Tues/Wed/Fri evenings. Empathy with young people.
North Wimbledon Girl Guides/Brownies
Were you a Brownie or Girl Guide? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers one evening a week to help out with Brownie and Guides packs in Wimbledon. Help with a wide range of activities, including swimming, horse riding, canoeing, bowling, arts and crafts. Opportunities to participate in camping trips.

Playworkers needed for after-school clubs and nursery care in local Mitcham school. CRB checks carried out.

Youth Club leader needed to coordinate team of volunteers for weekly youth club. Also, Youth Outings Coordinator required to organise trips and activities.
M.A.S.H. (Merton Association for Single Homeless)
Experienced gardener wanted to take charge of large garden at foyer. Could use some of the garden to plant vegetables and instruct young residents on how to care for garden.

Minibus driver needed to transport clients to and from the drop-in.
Mitcham Rugby Club
Volunteers needed to help with admin, as trustees and for events and festivals.

River and Cloth project. Volunteers needed to help with local arts and craft project.
Paul D’Auria Cancer Centre
Volunteers needed for admin/support one day or half a day. Volunteers must be warm and friendly as well as computer literate and flexible. We generally like people to commit for a minimum of six months.
Help Service
Volunteers needed to befriend older people in their own homes. Also volunteer drivers, and gardeners willing to adopt a garden for a frail, elderly or disabled person. Training given.
Home Visits Library Service
Drivers are urgently needed to deliver and collect books for housebound users of the library service. Commitment is half a day per month. Book selectors also needed.
The Wandle Trust
