Your privacy is important to us.

This privacy statement applies specifically to the Volunteer Centre Merton website and information we collect about you, but reflects our general policy on privacy. If you are using our blog and open forum on the youth micro-site please see the additional note below. The Website contains public areas which may be viewed from any Internet connected PC. It is important to Volunteer Centre Merton that you retain your privacy when you take advantage of all that Volunteer Centre Merton endevours to offer. We want you to find our website helpful, informative, easy to use and safe.

The information you provide to us will be used to introduce you to a volunteering opportunity or for organisations to find potential volunteers. It may also be used for equal opportunities and statistical purposes where your personal identity will be removed.

On our website we provide a link to the National Volunteering Database (NVD) http://www.do-it.org.uk which volunteers may find a convenient way of searching for opportunities. We do not upload details of volunteers onto this site.

For organisations we regularly upload information to the do-it site which are then available to the public. Partial details of the organisation offering the volunteering opportunity are also uploaded. In general these are:

The name of the organisation

The purpose (or mission statement) of the organisation

The activities of the organisation

The volunteering opportunity

None of the above will be sent to the NVD until you have provided us with details of a volunteering opportunity. When you do this you have the option to request that the opportunity is not uploaded to the NVD.

In a very limited number of cases we may opt to upload not only the name of your organisation but contact details for a volunteering opportunity as well. (i.e. the address and telephone number and the person to contact). This is generally done in cases where a large organisation is seeking multiple volunteers over a wider geographical area. Again, you have the right to request that we don’t upload details of the opportunity.

Blog/Open Forum

For those wishing to use our blog and open forum we want to emphasise the importance of staying safe. Do not post or give out information to people you don’t know e.g. personal telephone number, address, financial information of any kind. Data Protection:

At no time will we provide any of your personal details to a third party without your permission other than in signposting a voluntary opportunity or introducing volunteers. In order to keep you up to date with information and events we may include you on our email and postal mailing lists and you can register for our eNewsletter on-line. You can request us to remove you from mailing lists at any time and you can cancel your on-line registration yourself.

We will never sell or give our mailing lists to a third party.
