Sharon Clark, our New Supported Youth Volunteering Coordinator

Hello everyone, my name is Sharon Clark and I have recently joined the team here at Volunteer Centre Merton, running the Supported Youth Volunteering Project (SYVP).

With over nine years’ experience of supporting adults with a range of disabilities and challenging behaviour, my first role was that of Epilepsy Support Worker, in a residential setting.  My next post was as Employment and Training Coordinator with the Mencap Sutton Pathway Employment Service.  I was then invited to join the London Borough of Merton Employment Team for adults with learning and physical disabilities.  I worked closely with  Volunteer Centre Merton, as I felt there was an important link between volunteering and employment.  I can say that at least two of my learning disabled adults, thanks to volunteering opportunities, were able to progress into paid employment.
