Adults Facing Chronic Exclusion

We are pioneering ACE, a new initiative for adults facing chronic exclusion

In partnership with South West London & St Georges NHS Mental Health Trust, New Directions Team, we recruit and train Volunteer Mentors to work with these highly vulnerable adults.  Our mentors serve as positive role models and strive to empower the mentees through support, encouragement, motivation and guidance.

Where appropriate we also support mentees into volunteering.   This can raise self esteem and help people to move out of isolation, to socialise, learn skills, and engage with their communities. We also offer training to mentees to become Buddies, using the expertise gained through their own experiences, to support others.

If you are interested in learning more or getting involved in this important project please call our Supported Volunteering Co-ordinator on 020 8640 7355 or email info@volunteercentremerton.org.uk

Adults facing chronic exclusion will experience:

  • Poor mental and physical health
  • A history of exclusion, institutionalisation or abuse
  • Behaviour and control issues
  • Skills deficit, unemployment and poor educational achievement
