Commonside Community Development Trust
Urgently looking for 5-6 volunteers to help in their café, 1 or 2 days per week. We welcome anyone who can stay for about 2 hours or more from 10.30am to 6pm. We need help setting out tables and helping stall-holders to set up, serving food and drink, meeting and greeting etc. Morden Baptist Church. Gardening supervisor needed with experience and expertise to work with children, young people and/or vulnerable adults to develop the community garden. Also needed, receptionist Wednesdays and Fridays.
St Mark’s Family Centre
Parent & Toddler Lunch Club Kitchen Volunteer needed on Mondays and Wednesdays to provide meals for parents and their children. Kitchen Assistant needed to help prepare and serve lunches. Also needed, a volunteer for Parent and Toddler group on a Wednesday morning and an admin volunteer to assist in office.
Merton & Lambeth CAB/SW
LondonClerk to Trustee Board needed. A good way to get involved in your local community without interfering with the day job! 6 evening meetings annually, plus follow-up work word-processing at home. An ideal role if you have reasonable minute-taking and word-processing skills and want the satisfaction of playing an essential role without giving up much of your spare time. Gardener needed for one day per week, to make our garden a pleasant environment. Weeding, generally keeping garden neat and tidy. Nothing too strenuous. Ideal for someone who would like to spend a few hours a week in the fresh air.
Wimbledon Cancer Friendship Group
Group meets weekly in the Wimbledon Guild to offer friendship and emotional support to anyone affected by any cancer. It is looking for a new Chair to lead, motivate and support the small team of volunteers. Leadership and ability to manage; good communicator and sensitive motivator; some basic computer skills.
British Red Cross
Whether it is helping out with a particular service when we are busy, lending a hand in IT, or doing odd jobs around one of our offices, you will get involved in a great cause. You will be bringing some of your own knowledge and experience to the role and you will also have the chance to develop workplace skills.
Lead volunteer, Gateway Club, to oversee the running of our weekly social club for adults with a learning disability. The club has a vibrant, relaxed atmosphere and offers a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, games and dancing. The Lead Volunteer will co-ordinate the team of volunteers to provide safe, fun activities at the club.
Shooting Star CHASE Hospice for children and teenagers
Volunteer Ambassadors needed to be the face of Shooting Star. Giving talks and presentations in schools, clubs and organisations within their local community. Can be flexible to fit around work, study etc.
May Garden Project
Gardeners wanted to take an active role in maintaing the upkeep of the May Garden, where a system that is kinder to the environment is employed using traditional methods of permaculture to produce foods and other products. Seeking conscientious gardeners who are willing to support the creation of a showcase for raising awareness. Great opportunity for already keen gardeners and enthusiasts to learn new skills and techniques in growing foods. Other volunteering roles available.
The Squad runs a youth club every Thursday evening for people with learning disabilities aged 13-25 in Merton. The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall running of The Squad, keeping it legal, determining strategic direction, setting policies, securing funding etc. Trustees don’t need previous experience, but do need to have enthusiasm, good communication, creative thinking the ability to work in a team. Commitment of 10-15 hours per month and attendance at meetings every 6 weeks. Weekly bus escort to accompany club members to and from home on minibus transport. Need enthusiasm, good communication the ability to empathise with others and respect individuals’ different needs.

Bereavement Support Volunteer to support people who have been bereaved by homicide and death by dangerous and careless driving. The support could be by telephone or face-to-face visits. Experience of dealing with bereaved people and/or enhanced counselling/listening skills.
Dance for people with Parkinsons. Musical Moving offers weekly dance classes for people with Parkinson’s. Meet every Wednesday to dance with professional teacher and musician. Need outgoing, confident volunteer to meet, greet, support people at the group. Occasional admin support.

Shopping Bus Assistant to assist with the operation of a shopping shuttle bus service. This will involve helping passengers on and off the vehicle, helping to load shopping and occasionally to push wheelchairs.

Faith in Action Homeless Drop-in
Urgently need reliable and regular volunteers for Wednesday and Friday drop-in. Volunteers welcome and check in clients at the drop-in; help choose clothes; assist in filling in forms for doctor etc; chat and befriend. Also volunteers who will accompany clients to appointments regarding housing, benefits etc. Hairdressers needed for the homeless Drop-In Wednesday and/or Fridays.

Volunteer needed to assist at weekly meetings as a group facilitator, or simply to welcome people and serve refreshments. Listening skills and facilitation training available. Volunteers with marketing and/or book-keeping skills also needed. Thurs 3.15-4.30 weekly and 7,30-9.00pm once a month.

Escorts needed to assist elderly and disabled members who need help while shopping or out on trips. Travel expenses and lunches will be paid by the organisation. Knowledge of local area and good communication skills required. First Aid and travel support skills a bonus.
